Local Information  VenueThe workshop will take place in Zurich, Switzerland, at the University of
Zurich. The workshop venue is located in the north of Zurich at Binzmühlestrasse
14, 8050 Zurich, Switzerland.
The talks and demos will be held in the room 2.A.01 on the second floor (“2. Obergeschoss”). Here is a plan of the building. There will be direction
signs guiding you. During breaks there will be coffee and snacks
offered near the workshop room, lunch will be offered at the cafeteria
(“Mensa”) on the first floor (“1. Obergeschoss”). A dinner will be arranged at the end of the workshop, and will be paid
for individually by the participants. WLAN
access will be available for the participants. If your institution is a
member of eduroam, you can use
VPN and your home user name and password to get Internet access. Switzerland uses a unique type of power sockets, please be aware that
you might need an adapter for your power plug (see here); two-pole Europlugs will work
without adapter, but Schuko
plugs will not fit. Location, Accommodation, Dinner
Zurich is
exceptionally well-connected and can conveniently be reached by rail, road,
and air. Zurich has one of the best public transport systems in the world
and the workshop location can easily be reached by public transport from
Zurich Main Station (Zürich HB) and the airport (Flughafen Zürich).
Visa information: Switzerland is part of the Schengen area. If you need a visa, see the information on visa on the Website of the Swiss embassy or consulate responsible for your country.
If you arrive at the airport: The easiest way to get to the workshop venue and the hotels is to take the tram (line 10, direction “Zürich HB”). Simply follow the signs saying “Tram.” There are ticket machines and a change machine for euros right outside when you exit the airport. Buy a ticket to “Zürich” (note that the airport is in a different fare zone than the city of Zurich).If you arrive by train at Zurich Main Station (Zürich HB), we also recommend to take the tram, either line 10 (direction “Flughafen”) or line 14 (direction “Seebach”). We recommend that you buy a ticket, valid 24 hours for the whole city
of
Zurich (“Zone 10”). The tram stops closest to the workshop venue are “Leutschenbach” (served by line 10) and “Bahnhof Oerlikon Ost” (served by lines 10 and 14). Tram stops are indicated in the above map. For further information on public transportation please see the ZVV

These hotels are all conveniently located. A hint when searching for hotels: The workshop venue is located in the Oerlikon quarter of Zurich, near the trade fair (“Messe”) and the indoor stadium (“Hallenstadion”). Zürich Tourism, the city's tourism board, also offers a hotel search and booking service.
If you stay longer in Zurich and want to do some tourism we recommend
the 3 day Zurich Card. It is valid for all transportation in Zurich and
surroundings (including Airport, Uetliberg, and other tourist
attractions) plus free admission to over 40 museums. The card is also
